Putin, Trump, and Xi may hold trilateral summit in China
The Kremlin has announced the possibility of a trilateral summit between leaders Vladimir Putin, Donald Trump, and Xi Jinping. This potential meeting was reportedly discussed during a telephone conversation between Putin and Trump on Tuesday.
The proposed meeting could take place on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, scheduled for November 18-19 in Shenzhen, China. While Russia has confirmed Putin's participation, the White House has not yet confirmed whether Donald Trump will attend.
This diplomatic development follows recent efforts to address the conflict in Ukraine. US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner recently visited Moscow and Kyiv, delivering what Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy described as “a couple of good, respectable proposals,” though the outcome remains uncertain. The potential summit would bring together three leaders with complex, often competing, strategic interests and relationships.
