PV Sindhu exits Arctic Open after quarter-final loss

Indian badminton player PV Sindhu was eliminated from the Arctic Open 2026 in the women’s singles quarter-finals in Vantaa, Finland. Facing Thailand’s Ratchanok Intanon, the sixth-seeded Sindhu lost in a three-game contest with scores of 11-21, 21-19, and 18-21.

After a dominant first game by Intanon, Sindhu regained momentum in the second game to force a decider. Despite a closely contested third game where neither player could establish a significant lead, Intanon secured the victory to extend her head-to-head lead over Sindhu to 10-4.

Prior to this match, Sindhu had advanced to the quarter-finals by defeating Japan’s Riko Gunji in straight games.
