PV Sindhu reaches French Open final
Indian badminton star PV Sindhu has advanced to the women’s singles final of the BWF French Open 2026. After a dominant quarter-final victory over Chinese Taipei’s Chiu Pin-chian (21-13, 21-14), Sindhu faced Japan’s Hina Akechi in the semifinals.
In a hard-fought three-game match lasting 73 minutes, Sindhu secured her place in the final with a 21-10, 20-22, 21-16 win. Despite losing the second game, the two-time Olympic medallist regained control in the decider, winning six consecutive points to seal the victory.
Sindhu will face world No. 1 and reigning champion An Se Young of South Korea in Sunday’s title match. This will be their 11th meeting on the circuit, and a win would mark Sindhu’s first victory over the South Korean star and her first maiden French Open title.
