PVEM strategizes for 2027 elections through regional alliances

The Green Ecological Party of Mexico (PVEM) is actively structuring its strategy for the 2027 electoral process through various regional maneuvers and alliance negotiations.

In Baja California, the PVEM intends to maintain its alliance with Morena, specifically positioning Tijuana Mayor Ismael Burgueño as a strong candidate for reelection. The party emphasizes that candidacies should be determined by binding surveys rather than political agreements. However, tensions exist regarding the alliance with the Labor Party (PT) in several states, including Coahuila, Zacatecas, and Chihuahua, where PVEM leadership has expressed dissatisfaction with Morena's perceived favoritism toward the PT.

In Puebla, the PVEM is negotiating to increase its number of federal deputy candidacies within the Morena-PT coalition, aiming to expand beyond its current three districts. The party also announced a selective strategy to compete in only 170 of the state's 246 municipalities to maximize resources.

Nationally, PVEM leaders participated in a National Assembly to define work routes and strengthen party structures. In Quintana Roo, leadership highlighted a growing membership of over 80,000 people and reaffirmed support for the national transformation project led by President Claudia Sheinbaum. Additionally, the PVEM legislative group in Michoacán presented its second annual report, highlighting over 145 initiatives focused on environmental and social issues.
