PVEM promotes waste-to-energy project using Mexican landfill residues

The Green Ecologist Party of Mexico (PVEM) is promoting a waste-to-energy initiative designed to convert solid waste into high-caloric pellets for use as fuel in European power plants, smelters, and cement factories.

The project focuses on utilizing materials from the El Milagro landfill in Ixtapaluca, State of Mexico, including plastics, tires, cardboard, and wood that are typically rejected during conventional recycling processes. The plan aims to process approximately 2,500 tons of waste daily from Mexico City.

Scheduled to begin operations by late 2027, the project involves private investment and German technology. The initiative aligns with the General Law of Circular Economy to reduce waste and decrease pressure on natural resources.
