PWI Surakarta inaugurates new leadership for 2026–2031 term

The Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) Central Board has officially inaugurated the new leadership for PWI Surakarta for the 2026–2031 term. Sri Hartanto has been appointed to lead the organization, which oversees the Solo Raya region, including Surakarta, Sukoharjo, Wonogiri, Karanganyar, Sragen, Klaten, and Boyolali.

During the inauguration in Solo, PWI Central Chairman Akhmad Munir highlighted the historical significance of the Surakarta branch, noting that the PWI was founded in Solo on February 9, 1946. Munir emphasized that the organization carries a responsibility to navigate modern media challenges, such as the massive influx of digital information, disinformation, and deepfake technology.

Sri Hartanto stated that the new leadership aims to strengthen the honor and integrity of the journalistic profession amidst media disruption. He stressed that the speed of news delivery must not compromise accuracy, and that professional integrity must take precedence over popularity or short-term interests.
