Patras winery fire triggers major firefighting operation
A large-scale firefighting operation is underway in Patras following a major fire that broke out at a winery factory early Saturday morning, around 05:00.
A total of 27 firefighters, including a specialized hiking team from the 6th EMODE, are working to contain the flames. The operation involves eight fire engines and a specialized ladder vehicle. The Municipality of Patras is also assisting by providing water tankers to ensure a continuous supply for the firefighting efforts.
The Arson Crimes Investigation Unit of Achaia has been deployed to the scene to investigate the cause and circumstances of the blaze. The exact origin of the fire remains unknown.
