Pyth Network DAO approves 100% revenue buyback policy
The Pyth Network DAO has approved a new governance policy, known as OP-PIP-136 or the ‘100% Rule’, which mandates that 100% of the DAO’s eligible revenue from commercial products be used for open-market buybacks of the PYTH token.
This new policy replaces a previous framework, OP-PIP-87, which capped monthly buybacks at one-third of the DAO’s non-PYTH treasury balance and required a separate vote for each monthly transaction. Under the new rule, the DAO no longer needs to vote monthly to release funds, as the standing approval directs revenue from services such as Pyth Pro, Listing as a Service, the Data Marketplace, and Pyth Indices straight to the PYTH Reserve.
The DAO receives approximately 60% of revenue from these products, while Douro Labs retains the remaining 40%. Pyth’s annualized recurring revenue (ARR) has recently reached $11.5 million, representing an 86% increase quarter-over-quarter. Execution of the buybacks is managed by the Pythian Council Ops Multisig, with individual transactions capped at $25,000 and a maximum slippage of 5%. Once purchased, the tokens are held in the PYTH Reserve and cannot be sold, borrowed against, or given away without a separate DAO vote.
