Pyth Network revenue and token buyback policy

Overview

The Pyth Network DAO has implemented a new governance policy, designated as OP-PIP-136 or the ‘100% Rule’. This policy mandates that 100% of the DAO’s eligible revenue from commercial products—including Pyth Pro, Listing as a Service, the Data Marketplace, and Pyth Indices—be used for open-market buybacks of the PYTH token. This replaces the previous OP-PIP-87 framework, which capped monthly buybacks and required individual monthly votes.

Under the new mandate, the DAO no longer requires monthly votes to release funds, as revenue is directed straight to the PYTH Reserve. The DAO receives approximately 60% of revenue from these products. Following this policy shift, the network has seen an increase in annualized recurring revenue, reaching $11.5 million.

By mid-October 2026, the PYTH token has shown bullish technical indicators, trading above key exponential moving averages. Analysts note that the new revenue model, which uses 100% of product revenue to accumulate tokens, creates a direct link between product adoption and token demand.
