In the run‑up to the Mawlid al‑Nabi holiday, the governor of Egypt’s Qalyubia governorate intensified market and food‑safety inspections. Officials seized an unlicensed confectionery plant in the Benha area, confiscating 18,400 pieces of candy and chocolate packed in 75 boxes, along with 650 kg of production supplies (oil, cocoa, coconut). A shop was also found with 23 packs of expired biscuits. Legal proceedings were launched and the case referred to the public prosecutor.

A parallel enforcement sweep in Shubra al‑Kheima targeted illegal street‑carts and other obstructions. Teams removed and confiscated several slow‑moving “karo” carts used for waste transport, cleared blockages on 15 May Street and imposed penalties on violators, aiming to improve public cleanliness and traffic flow.
