Qalyubia Health Authority Seizes 320 kg of Unlicensed Sweets

The Directorate of Health in Egypt’s Qalyubia governorate intensified inspections ahead of the Mawlid celebrations and shut down an unlicensed confectionery plant. Inspectors confiscated 320 kg of sweets marked with falsified expiration dates and identified serious sanitary violations. The factory was ordered to close pending licensing, and staff were cited for lacking health certificates. Officials warned consumers to purchase food from reputable sources and to report any irregularities.

The operation was coordinated by senior health officials, including Dr Osama Shalqani, Dr Osama Abu Amer, and Dr Mohamed Ali, emphasizing the government’s commitment to food safety during the upcoming religious holiday.
