Qantas announces first nonstop Sydney‑London flight for 2027

Qantas confirmed that London will be the inaugural destination of its Project Sunrise ultra‑long‑range program. The airline plans to launch a nonstop Sydney‑London service in October 2027, using the new Airbus A350‑1000ULR aircraft configured for flights of up to 22 hours and carrying 238 passengers across four cabin classes.

The weekly service will cut total travel time by up to four hours compared with current connecting flights, operate daily after the debut, and feature a premium “Well‑Being Zone” and circadian‑rhythm lighting. Tickets are on sale from €1,381. Project Sunrise envisions a fleet of 12 such A350‑1000ULR jets, with additional nonstop routes to New York and other long‑haul cities planned later.
