World Investment Forum 2026 opens in Qatar

The 9th World Investment Forum (WIF2026) has commenced in Doha, Qatar, under the theme ‘Investing in the Future’. Organized in partnership with the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the three-day event brings together over 5,000 participants and 406 speakers to address global investment challenges, geopolitical tensions, and economic uncertainty.

The forum features 108 sessions covering critical topics such as artificial intelligence, sustainable finance, climate change, and supply chain resilience. For the first time, the event includes a dedicated track on artificial intelligence. High-level attendees include prime ministers from Qatar, Lesotho, Libya, and Madagascar, alongside various government ministers and international leaders.

Recent UNCTAD data highlighted during the forum indicates that while global investment rose in the first half of 2026, new cross-border projects continue to decline. Furthermore, investment in essential sectors like infrastructure, energy, healthcare, and food systems fell by more than 25% in developing countries. Additionally, more than 80% of global foreign direct investment was concentrated in just 20 economies in 2025.
