Qatar plans $60 billion in infrastructure and private investments
Qatar is preparing for a new cycle of economic activity with planned projects and investments exceeding $60 billion over the next five years. This includes approximately $38.5 billion in infrastructure projects, some of which will be executed through public-private partnerships, and $22.5 billion in private investments targeting the real estate and hospitality sectors.
To support local growth, the Doha Investment unit, a new arm of the Qatar Investment Authority, will manage a portfolio of 45 state-owned companies to attract expertise and investment. Experts note that the success of these investments in the real estate and hospitality sectors will depend on the market's ability to develop new products that attract residents and visitors rather than merely increasing supply.
In the luxury sector, Qatar Tourism is set to host the 22nd edition of the Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition from September 28 to October 3 at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center. The event will feature over 49 exhibitors representing more than 500 brands. This year's exhibition includes a dedicated pavilion for Qatari designers and the participation of the international auction house Christie's.
