During discussions with Iranian officials, including President Masoud Pezeshkian and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, a proposed framework was reviewed. This plan includes establishing a temporary joint shipping corridor and a joint mine-clearing project in the Strait of Hormuz to ensure freedom of navigation. Iranian officials emphasized that reopening the waterway is contingent upon the U.S. meeting specific conditions, such as ending the economic blockade and removing sanctions.

In contrast, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Washington is not currently engaged in talks with Iran, opting instead to maintain an economic pressure campaign. The White House indicated that sanctions will continue until Tehran demonstrates a willingness to negotiate meaningfully. Iranian leadership has warned that continued economic and military pressure could lead to significant retaliatory actions against international interests.
