Qualcomm unveils Snapdragon C for $300 entry-level laptops

Qualcomm has released technical specifications for its Snapdragon C platform, an ARM-based solution designed for entry-level Windows laptops priced around $300. The platform targets students, families, and small businesses, aiming to provide all-day battery life and efficient performance for web browsing, office tasks, and streaming.

The Snapdragon C features an 8-core Qualcomm Kryo CPU with single-core speeds up to 3.0 GHz and multi-core speeds up to 2.0 GHz. It includes an Adreno A643 GPU (900 MHz) and a Hexagon NPU to support light AI workloads. The chip supports up to 16 GB of LPDDR4x, LPDDR5, or LPDDR5x memory and utilizes PCIe 3.0 NVMe or UFS storage.

Qualcomm claims the platform significantly outperforms Intel’s N250 processor in several benchmarks. Specifically, it reports up to 67% higher performance on battery, with Cinebench single-threaded scores up to 50% higher and multi-threaded scores up to 67% higher. Efficiency gains were noted in streaming and video conferencing tasks. Major hardware partners including Acer, HP, Lenovo, and Asus are expected to release devices featuring this technology.
