Quan Sheng Li charged with murder of six-year-old boy in Guyana
Quan Sheng Li, a 76-year-old Chinese national and cook, has been charged with the murder of six-year-old Zi Feng Cao in Parika, East Bank Essequibo. Li appeared before Magistrate Omadatt Chandan at the Leonora Magistrate’s Court, where he was remanded to prison. The case has been adjourned to early November to allow for the completion of witness statements and the post-mortem report.
The incident occurred following a dispute over money. Li reportedly visited Kenny’s Ocean Restaurant, owned by the victim’s parents, to demand the return of funds he claimed to have invested in their business. According to investigators, an argument ensued when the parents refused to return the money.
During the confrontation, Li allegedly retrieved a 12-inch stainless steel blade from his bag and attacked the child, who had just returned home from school. The boy was pronounced dead at the De Kinderen Regional Hospital. Following his arrest, Li reportedly confessed to the killing and led police to the location where he had disposed of the murder weapon.
