Quandela and NVIDIA unveil framework to integrate quantum processors into AI infrastructure
Quandela and NVIDIA have unveiled a technical framework designed to integrate quantum processing units (QPUs) into existing artificial intelligence and high-performance computing (HPC) infrastructures. Presented at IEEE Quantum Week 2026, the approach utilizes NVIDIA NVQLink to establish a low-latency connection between GPU environments and a Quantum System Controller. In this architecture, the CPU manages workflows, the GPU remains the primary engine for AI processing and simulations, and the QPU serves as a specialized accelerator for specific workloads.
Using the NVIDIA CUDA-Q platform and cuQuantum SDK, developers can simulate and test quantum algorithms on GPUs before deploying them to Quandela’s photonic QPUs. This allows organizations to adopt quantum capabilities without replacing their current IT infrastructure.
In a separate development, Mitacs and Munich Quantum Valley gGmbH have launched a partnership to foster quantum research and talent mobility between Canada and Germany. The two-year agreement focuses on joint research collaborations and workforce development at postsecondary institutions in Canada and Bavaria. This initiative aligns with Canada’s National Quantum Strategy, which includes a federal commitment of $334.3 million over five years to advance quantum technology adoption.
