Quang Bi 1 Primary School meal quality investigation
Authorities in Quang Bi Commune have released preliminary findings following social media reports regarding the quality of school meals at Quang Bi 1 Primary School in Hanoi. The investigation was prompted by parents conducting a surprise inspection and sharing videos alleging that student meals consisted primarily of pork fat (top mo) and lacked sufficient portions.
The Quang Bi Commune People's Committee clarified that while claims of spoiled or discolored meat were inaccurate, the investigation confirmed that the quantity and preparation of the meals did not meet required standards. Specifically, the portion sizes did not align with the 40,000 VND per meal rate. Regarding the meat, inspectors found no unusual odors or signs of spoilage; the meat used was pork belly, leg, and shoulder, prepared as sesame fried pork.
In response to the findings, the food provider, Thang Long Investment Development and Trading Services Joint Stock Company, has committed to increasing food portions and replacing the kitchen staff. The school administration, local authorities, and parent representatives have reached an agreement on necessary adjustments to ensure meal quality meets expectations.
