Quang Bi 1 Primary School resumes boarding meals after provider change

Quang Bi 1 Primary School in Hanoi will resume its boarding meal service on October 5, following a one-week suspension to review conditions and replace the food provider. The school announced that Daewoo Food Co., Ltd. will take over meal supply from October 5 through May 31, 2027.

The suspension followed complaints from parents on September 23 regarding the quality of meals. Parents reported that meat portions appeared to be “nothing but pork fat” (tóp mỡ) and questioned if the food quality matched the 40,000 VND fee. While the school and provider clarified that the meat was fresh pork belly that had simply shrunken during high-temperature frying, an interdisciplinary inspection led by the Hanoi Department of Education and Training identified management and operational inadequacies in the kitchen.

Moving forward, the school has pledged to increase supervision over food reception, processing, portioning, and sample storage to ensure safety and quality.
