Quang Ninh City established following National Assembly resolution

Vietnam's National Assembly has officially passed Resolution No. 36/2026/QH16, establishing Quang Ninh City. The new city is formed using the entire natural area and population of the former Quang Ninh province and is scheduled to take effect on September 1, 2026.

During the announcement ceremony, General Secretary and President Tô Lâm presented the resolution and awarded the First-Class Labor Order to the Party, government, and people of Quang Ninh. Leaders emphasized that this transition represents a significant shift in governance and development, moving from a 'brown' economy based on coal to a 'green' economy driven by technology, maritime resources, and heritage.

In conjunction with this administrative milestone, several major industrial projects have commenced. VSIP Group has broken ground on the VSIP Quang Ninh Industrial Park, a 448.16-hectare project with an investment of approximately 5,810 billion VND. Additionally, the Mao Khe Coal Sifting and Screening Plant project, totaling 469.6 billion VND, has also begun construction to modernize local production.
