Quảng Trị Airport conducts first technical flight for safety inspection

Quảng Trị Airport has reached a significant milestone with its first technical flight to inspect airspace safety and runway obstacles. Conducted on October 15, the flight utilized a Cessna 208 aircraft from the Ministry of Defense's SAMCOM to perform three assessment passes at altitudes of 300m and 600m.

The project, a public-private partnership (PPP) involving a consortium of T&T Group and CIENCO4, has reached over 80% completion. Key infrastructure components, including the aircraft parking area, runway, and taxiways, are nearing completion, with the passenger terminal and air traffic control tower also well advanced.

Once fully operational, the airport is expected to be upgraded from level 4C to 4E, allowing it to accommodate wide-body aircraft such as the Boeing 787 and Airbus A350. The facility aims to serve approximately 5 million passengers and 25,500 tons of cargo annually. Commercial operations are targeted to begin in March 2027.
