Vietnam police deploy AI to combat cybercrime and financial fraud

Vietnamese law enforcement agencies are intensifying efforts to combat sophisticated financial and cybercrimes. In Hai Phong, police have officially deployed an artificial intelligence (AI) system to assist in deep investigations. This digital legal assistant is designed to analyze massive datasets, such as millions of bank transactions, to uncover hidden connections between criminal leaders and illicit money flows that manual reviews might miss.

In Hanoi, investigators have initiated a criminal case involving the FTXF cryptocurrency scam. Led by Tran Nam Chung, a group of five individuals is accused of defrauding investors by promoting FTXF tokens through seminars and fake trading platforms. The group allegedly manipulated the token's value to misappropriate significant funds.

Separately, in Quang Tri province, local police and Agribank successfully prevented a phone scam targeting an elderly man. The victim was nearly coerced into transferring 150 million VND after receiving fraudulent calls from individuals impersonating authorities claiming he was involved in a drug ring.
