Quang Tri police warn of delivery driver impersonation scams

Police in Quang Tri province have issued a warning regarding a new scam involving individuals impersonating delivery drivers. Scammers are using specific details from recent online orders to gain trust and request urgent bank transfers.

In a recent incident, a resident in Dong Hoi received calls from individuals claiming to be shippers for an order placed via Facebook. The callers provided accurate information regarding the product and the exact amount due, which successfully built credibility. However, the victim became suspicious when asked to transfer 730,000 VND before a specific deadline, noting that the actual delivery was not scheduled to arrive for several days.

Authorities advise citizens to remain vigilant when receiving calls from unknown numbers requesting immediate payments, even if the caller possesses correct order details.
