Quantum Computing Advances Cut Qubit Needs, Boost Enterprise Use
Industry leaders say quantum computing remains in the noisy intermediate‑scale quantum (NISQ) stage, with commercial‑grade machines still years away. Google Quantum AI Lab founder Hartmut Neven and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang estimate practical gate‑model systems may need 15‑20 years, while IBM CEO Arvind Krishna expects quantum services to affect revenue by 2028‑29. D‑Wave CEO Alan Baratz notes its annealing machines are already deployed by more than 100 organisations for optimization tasks such as scheduling and logistics, and are offered as hybrid quantum‑classical solutions on‑premise and in the cloud.
Separately, Qarakal Quantum unveiled its Pangaea architecture, which uses a modular quantum‑bus design to achieve fault‑tolerant operation with only one‑tenth the physical qubits required by conventional designs.
