Quartu Sant’Elena: Two teenagers killed in fatal scooter accident

Two teenagers, identified as 18-year-old Gabriele Galici from Cagliari and 17-year-old Filippo Corongiu from Monserrato, died following a fatal scooter accident in Quartu Sant’Elena. The incident occurred around 5:00 AM on September 4, 2026, along the Poetto coastline near the Marinella roundabout.

The victims were traveling on a Honda SH 125 scooter when the driver reportedly lost control, causing the vehicle to strike a light pole. One youth died instantly at the scene, while the other passed away in an ambulance while being transported to the hospital.

Carabinieri investigators are currently reviewing surveillance footage from the area to determine the exact dynamics of the crash and to confirm who was operating the vehicle at the time. The scooter has been seized for technical analysis, and toxicological exams are expected to be conducted. The victims' bodies are currently at the Brotzu hospital in Cagliari.
