Quebec health officials warn of norovirus in bakery pastries

The Ministère de l’Agriculture, des Pêcheries et de l’Alimentation du Québec (MAPAQ), in coordination with Boulangeries Ange, has issued a public health warning regarding the potential presence of norovirus in raspberry pastries. The affected products include raspberry tarts, tartlets, and danishes sold at nine Ange bakery locations.

The warning follows a food recall by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) concerning Alasko brand frozen whole raspberries from China, which were distributed across Canada. Some illnesses linked to the consumption of these raspberries have already been reported.

Consumers who purchased these raspberry pastries between September 8 and September 11, 2026, are advised not to consume them. The affected branches are located in Saint-Charles-Borromée, Rosemère, Repentigny, Laval, Brossard (two locations), Boucherville, Châteauguay, and Vaudreuil-Dorion. MAPAQ notes that norovirus can contaminate products even if they show no signs of spoilage or unusual odor.
