Quebec police launch national off-road vehicle safety operation
Police services in Quebec, including the Saguenay Police Service and the Association des directeurs de police du Québec (ADPQ), are conducting a concerted national operation known as ‘ONC Quad’ on September 19 and 20.
The initiative aims to raise awareness among off-road vehicle users regarding safety behaviors and regulatory compliance. Key safety recommendations include wearing compliant helmets and safety glasses, maintaining safe distances between vehicles, and using headlights at all times to improve visibility.
Authorities reminded operators that they are subject to the same laws as motorists regarding alcohol and drugs, noting that impaired driving is a criminal offense. Other regulations include a 50 km/h speed limit on trails and the requirement to respect all signage and authorized crossing points.
