Queen Budapest concert film returns to cinemas in 4K
To mark the 40th anniversary of their historic 1986 performance, the rock band Queen is releasing ‘Queen Budapest’, a 4K restored concert film. The show, recorded on July 27, 1986, at the Népstadion in Budapest, was a landmark event as the first rock show by a Western band to be performed in a stadium beyond the Iron Curtain.
The film features the last filmed performance of the original Queen lineup with Freddie Mercury. The restoration was conducted at Sir Peter Jackson’s Park Road Post Production studios using original 35mm footage, accompanied by a new audio mix from original multi-track recordings.
In Italy, the film will be screened from October 7 to October 11, distributed by Nexo Studios. Internationally, the release includes IMAX screenings where available. A multi-format soundtrack, including CD, digital, and a 3LP vinyl edition, is scheduled for release in late October and early November via Legacy Recordings and Hollywood Records.
