Queen Budapest concert film announced for international release
The concert film ‘Queen Budapest’, featuring the band’s historic 1986 performance in Hungary, is set for an international release. The film captures the final professionally filmed performance of Freddie Mercury during ‘The Magic Tour’ at Budapest’s Népstadion, an event notable for being the first major Western rock concert held behind the Iron Curtain.
Sony Music Vision and Trafalgar Releasing have announced a global rollout including conventional theaters and IMAX formats. In Mexico, the film is scheduled to arrive in Cinemex and Cinépolis theaters on October 7, 2026.
To celebrate the release, an exclusive screening event will be held at London’s Roundhouse on October 3. This event aims to recreate a stadium atmosphere using a giant LED screen, full surround sound, and synchronized lighting. The London event will also feature original memorabilia from the Queen archive and a pre-film DJ set.
