Queen announces 4K restoration of historic 1986 Budapest concert film

The rock band Queen has released a 4K trailer for ‘Queen: Budapest’, a remastered concert film celebrating the 40th anniversary of their historic 1986 performance at Budapest’s Népstadion. The concert was a landmark event, marking the first time a Western rock band performed a stadium show behind the Iron Curtain.

Filmed on July 27, 1986, the original production utilized 17 cameras. The footage and audio have been meticulously restored by Peter Jackson’s Park Road Post Production to meet modern 4K and Dolby Atmos standards. The film captures the final live performance of the band’s original four members, including Freddie Mercury, before his death.

‘Queen: Budapest’ is scheduled for theatrical and IMAX release on October 7. A home media release featuring Blu-ray, DVD, digital formats, and various physical editions including triple-vinyl and double-CD will follow on October 30.
