Queensland police officer assaulted; 25‑year‑old arrested in Brisbane

Queensland Police Service arrested a 25‑year‑old male in the Brisbane suburb of Yeronga after he allegedly assaulted a senior constable. Police said the suspect threatened officers with a piece of wood, threw it at them, and climbed onto a police vehicle before resisting arrest. The senior constable was injured, taken to hospital and later placed on leave.

The suspect has been charged with two serious offences: weapon‑laden assault on a police officer causing bodily injury and serious assault on a police officer causing bodily harm. QPS has opened an ethical‑standards investigation overseen by the Crime and Corruption Commission. Earlier, on 25 July, a separate police shooting in Queensland injured two civilians, but no officers were harmed in that incident.
