Queensland police officer incidents

Overview

At the end of July, a 32‑year‑old senior constable from the Queensland Police Service’s Northern Region was charged with domestic violence, two counts of fraud, fuel theft and obstructing police. He was stood down and scheduled to appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court on 5 August.

A few days later, a senior constable was assaulted in the Brisbane suburb of Yeronga. The 25‑year‑old suspect threatened officers with a piece of wood, threw it, and climbed onto a police vehicle before being arrested. The injured officer was taken to hospital and placed on leave, and an ethical‑standards investigation was launched by the Crime and Corruption Commission.
