Querétaro City Council approves 12.5-hectare land donation for conservation
The Querétaro City Council has approved the donation of 12.5 hectares of land to the Querétaro Trust for Environmental Conservation (FIQMA). The two urban plots, located in the Epigmenio González delegation north of the La Espiga subdivision and the Fray Junípero Serra ring road, have a combined cadastral value of approximately 345,877,000 pesos.
One plot exceeds 122,000 square meters, while the second covers 2,439 square meters. These areas will be designated for ecological conservation to support water catchment, temperature regulation, and reforestation efforts. The initiative is expected to directly benefit more than 16,533 residents in the surrounding areas.
This action is part of a municipal strategy led by Mayor Felifer Macías to transfer at least one property to FIQMA during every council session to increase the city's protected environmental surface.
