Querétaro Governor seeks tree compensation for train works

Querétaro Governor Mauricio Kuri González has urged the federal government to prioritize environmental compensation regarding the Mexico-Querétaro train construction. Kuri emphasized that the state is requesting authorities to protect existing vegetation and, where tree removal is unavoidable, to prioritize transplanting or planting new trees to compensate for the loss.

Marco Del Prete Tercero, Secretary of Sustainable Development, described recent nighttime tree felling in the Tepe area as “penoso” (painful/regrettable). He noted that citizens are specifically requesting the relocation of trees rather than just new plantings, seeking to respect the living organisms affected by the infrastructure work.
