Querétaro gubernatorial race tight between Morena and PAN
Morena’s congressional coordinator for the state of Querétaro, Arturo Maximiliano García, said a Mitofsky poll shows the upcoming gubernatorial contest will start as a technical tie, with the PAN at 30.9% and Morena at 24.7% of voter preference. He noted the closeness could pave the way for the first left‑wing victory in the state and cited local issues such as drainage problems as voter concerns.
PAN state committee president Martín Arango García denounced the registration of former federal official José María “Chema” Tapia as a Morena aspirant, calling it contradictory after President‑elect Claudia Sheinbaum accused Tapia of involvement in alleged misappropriation of funds from the Natural Disaster Fund (FONDEN) during the Peña Nieto administration. Arango demanded investigations be concluded before such individuals could run for office.
