Puebla athletes earn record 10 medals at Santo Domingo 2026 Games
The government of Puebla has recognized its athletes following a historic performance at the Santo Domingo 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games. The delegation secured 10 medals, consisting of six gold, two silver, and two bronze, marking the highest number of gold medals for the state in this competition's history.
Governor Alejandro Armenta Mier presented awards and incentives to the athletes, stating that his administration views sports as a state policy and a tool for social transformation. To honor these achievements, the governor announced the creation of the ‘Paseo de las y los Campeones’, which will feature busts of Puebla athletes who participate in Olympic, Central American, and Pan American competitions.
Additionally, the state is preparing for upcoming sporting events, including the National Pelota Tarasca Tournament, which will host 57 teams. The state also confirmed the participation of 80 para-athletes in the 2026 National Paralympics organized by CONADE.
