Querétaro hosts national arts network meeting and Bienal Queer BQ07
Querétaro is hosting significant cultural events focused on artistic networking and queer expression. The Encuentro de la Red de Centros de las Artes Querétaro 2026 brought together leaders from arts centers across 24 Mexican states from October 8 to 10. Vicente Jurado López, coordinator of the Centro Nacional de las Artes (CENART), called for the creation of an academic network to improve efficiency and support for artists and producers, noting that culture is a major driver of state GDP.
Additionally, the Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro (UAQ) is hosting the Bienal Queer BQ07, titled ‘Remembranza. Representación. Resistencia’ (Remembrance. Representation. Resistance). Held at the Centro de Arte Bernardo Quintana Arrioja on October 14 and 16, the event features a tribute to writer and artist Johan Mijail, collective exhibitions curated by Antonio Zaragoza and Rubén Esparza, and performances focused on the experiences of trans, travesti, and non-binary communities.
