Cultural and artistic events in Querétaro

Querétaro is hosting a series of major cultural and artistic events throughout late 2026.

In September, the Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro (UAQ) scheduled a program of eight performances at its Aeropuerto campus, specifically at the Hangar 001 Scenic Forum. Running between September 4 and September 26, the lineup includes dance, music, theater, and film, featuring groups such as the Estudiantina Femenil de la UAQ and the Rondalla Universitaria UAQ. Concurrently, Cirque du Soleil premiered its new production, ‘Echo’, at the Autódromo de Querétaro on September 3. The production features 53 artists and a crew of approximately 200 people, utilizing a large tent with a 1,400-seat capacity.

To support the local artistic community, the Querétaro Secretary of Culture has implemented strategies to mitigate budget restrictions by increasing participation in federal funding calls. As part of these efforts, the RAQ Gallery was inaugurated at the Querétaro Arts Center (CEART). The gallery opened with ‘Entre rostros’, an exhibition of works by youth from the Center for Detention and Execution of Measures for Adolescents (CIEMA), intended to use art as a tool for social development.

Looking ahead to November 9–15, the city will host the inaugural Art Week Querétaro. This multidisciplinary event will integrate art, design, architecture, fashion, cinema, and photography. A central component is the JUSTQRO international contemporary art fair, scheduled for November 12–15, which is expected to showcase nearly 60 artists through approximately 30 individual and duo projects. State Secretary of Culture Ana Paola López Birlain noted that these initiatives aim to boost the creative economy by connecting the local artistic community with academic institutions and the private sector.
