Querétaro hosts XVIII International Civil Engineering Congress

The XVIII International Civil Engineering Congress and the 53rd National Meeting of the Mexican Federation of Colleges of Civil Engineers (FEMCIC) have opened in Querétaro. The event serves as a platform for specialists, authorities, and professionals to exchange knowledge and address urban challenges such as territorial planning, infrastructure, mobility, water management, and urban resilience.

José Pío X Salgado Tovar, head of the Secretariat of Urban Development and Public Works (SDUOP), emphasized that metropolitan viability must be built upon five sustainability pillars: soil, water, air, energy, and time. He noted that urban growth must be guided by technical criteria to meet current needs without compromising future generations.

Pablo Talamantes Contreras, president of the College of Civil Engineers of the State of Querétaro (CICQ), highlighted the necessity of strengthening planning and securing fundamental resources, specifically water and efficient mobility, to support the rapid growth of the Querétaro region.
