Querétaro officials announce land donations and road reopenings
Querétaro Mayor Felifer Macías has announced a proposal to donate 12 additional hectares of land to the Querétaro Trust for Environmental Conservation (FIQMA). The proposal, to be presented during the next City Council session, aims to ensure ecological preservation and prevent the land from being used for urban construction. The targeted areas, located near the Cañada Bolaños natural protected area known as El Tlacuache, provide essential environmental services such as water catchment, temperature regulation, and ecosystem preservation.
Separately, the 10 lanes of Bernardo Quintana Boulevard have been fully reopened to traffic following the conclusion of a special mobility device. The restrictions were implemented to facilitate construction maneuvers for the Mexico-Querétaro Train project. The operation, which lasted six weeks, was completed ahead of the original seven-week schedule through coordination between municipal, state, and federal authorities, including the Mexican Army.
