Quilmes launches municipal prevention command to boost security

The Municipality of Quilmes has launched the Comando de Prevención Municipal Quilmes (CPMQ), a new local security force aimed at increasing presence and prevention throughout the territory. The initiative will be entirely funded by municipal resources.

Interim Mayor Eva Mieri stated that the force aims to deploy approximately 300 officers in central areas, plazas, and school corridors. The creation of this local command is a response to the migration of over 130 officers from the Buenos Aires Province Police to the City of Buenos Aires, driven by higher salaries in the capital. The CPMQ intends to not only replace those lost but to double the current street presence.

Local Security Secretary Gaspa De Stéfano noted that applicants must have prior experience in security forces, the penitentiary service, or the armed forces. As of the announcement, more than 500 people have already applied for the positions.
