Quilmes unveils new sports complex and hosts free Children’s Day festivities

Provincial deputy Mayra Mendoza and interim mayor Eva Mieri inspected the initial works on the new Polideportivo Ezpeleta Oeste in Quilmes, a municipal sports and recreation centre funded entirely with local taxes as part of the 2025‑2027 biennial plan.

Later in the week, Mieri attended the City’s Children’s Day celebration at the Municipal Polideportivo “Reinaldo Gorno”. The free event offered games, live music, toy and bicycle giveaways and served hot chocolate, drawing thousands of families from Quilmes and neighboring districts. Officials highlighted that more than 400 activities were offered during the winter break, reaching about 200,000 participants.

Both initiatives were presented as municipal efforts to provide community spaces and cultural programs for young people amid economic challenges.
