Bradley Creek wildfire: Westside Road reopens as fire is held
The Bradley Creek wildfire, located west of Vernon, is currently classified as being held, with the fire covering approximately 2,658.1 hectares. As fire activity has decreased, several evacuation orders have been downgraded to alerts, allowing some residents to return to their properties.
Westside Road has partially reopened, with the section from Highway 97 to Simla Road now accessible to residents. However, an 8.1-kilometre stretch between Komasket Road and Simla Road remains closed in both directions. One evacuation order and two evacuation alerts issued by the Okanagan Indian Band and the Regional District of North Okanagan remain in effect.
BC Wildfire Service crews are continuing to patrol the perimeter, using infrared drone scanning to identify and extinguish hot spots. A combined force of 115 firefighters, 10 pieces of heavy equipment, and five helicopters is currently managing the Bradley Creek and Quilpituk Creek wildfires.
