Quinbrook’s Supernode battery project reaches major milestones

Quinbrook’s Supernode battery energy storage system (BESS) project has reached significant milestones in its phased development in Australia. The project has completed Stage 2 commercial operations and achieved financial close on A$469 million in debt financing for Stage 3. Total project financing across Stages 1, 2, and 3 is approximately A$1.2 billion.

Located in Brendale, north of Brisbane, the Supernode campus is expected to exceed 3 GWh in planned capacity. Across its first three stages, the project is set to reach 780MW / 3,074MWh. CATL serves as the core energy storage system supplier for all three stages, providing EnerC Plus systems for Stages 1 and 2, and TENER S systems for Stage 3.

The project is situated adjacent to the South Pine substation, a critical hub in the Queensland power system, offering favorable connection capacity for future expansion. This development aligns with the accelerating energy transition and infrastructure investment cycle in Queensland.
