Quintana Roo ranks second in Mexico for influenza cases

Quintana Roo has ranked second nationally in Mexico for influenza cases during the 2026 interseasonal period. According to the Weekly Epidemiological Situation Report, the state has confirmed 57 cases, accounting for 14.2 percent of the national total. One death has been attributed to influenza A(H3N2).

Nationally, 401 cases and eight deaths have been confirmed. The circulating viruses are primarily influenza B, followed by A(H3N2). Other states with high concentrations of cases include Yucatán, Mexico City, Tabasco, and San Luis Potosí. In Benito Juárez, local health officials noted that respiratory illnesses have increased to represent approximately 20 percent of medical consultations, up from the usual 10 to 15 percent.
