Latin American cities launch infrastructure and mobility projects
Various municipalities in Ecuador and Guatemala are undertaking significant infrastructure and mobility projects. In Quito, the expansion of Amazonas Avenue to connect with Luis Tufiño avenue is set to begin, involving a 2.21-kilometer stretch with a seven-month timeline and a USD 7 million investment. The project aims to integrate vehicle, pedestrian, and bicycle traffic without scheduled road closures.
In Guayaquil, the municipality is intensifying road maintenance across 35 fronts to prepare for the rainy season. Additionally, the Transit and Mobility Authority (ATM) has begun inspecting urban public transport units to ensure compliance with safety and comfort standards, while also implementing bus route diversions in the city center due to reconstruction work on Clemente Ballén street.
In Guatemala, the Municipal District of Central Guatemala (AMDC) has started rehabilitation and pothole repair work on the internal streets of the Villa Olímpica José Simón Azcona Hoyo to improve access for athletes and visitors.
