Quito implements digital registry for over 2,000 delivery drivers

More than 2,000 delivery drivers have already enrolled in Quito’s new Digital Unique Registry for Delivery Services. This digital tool was created to enhance security for both delivery personnel and customers by allowing authorities to verify driver identities and vehicle information via a QR code.

The registry is a voluntary and free initiative resulting from an agreement between the Municipality of Quito, the Ecuadorian Chamber of Innovation and Technology (CITEC), and major delivery platforms including Rappi, Uber, inDrive, and Volt Delivery. The system allows drivers to register personal data, the platforms they work for, and up to five vehicles.

Authorities can use the QR code during street controls to quickly confirm if a driver is registered and if their documentation is in order. While the registration is not mandatory, the goal is to reach 4,000 registered drivers to improve identification and streamline official inspections in the capital.
