Quito power outages cause traffic disruptions

Power outages affected several sectors in northern Quito on Thursday, September 10. The Empresa Eléctrica Quito (EEQ) reported that the interruptions impacted areas including La Pradera, San Salvador, Bosmediano, and parts of the Eloy Alfaro avenue. Tumbaco also experienced service disruptions.

The outages caused significant traffic complications in the capital's north and hyper-center due to malfunctioning traffic lights. EEQ dispatched operational teams to the La Carolina sector to perform corrective work. While service has been restored to most affected areas, crews continue to work toward full recovery of the electrical supply.
