Quiz show contestant loses chance at finale due to incorrect audience joker

During a special 3-million-euro week of the RTL quiz show ‘Wer wird Millionär?’, contestant Gabriele Schmickl lost her chance to qualify for the grand finale due to an incorrect audience joker.

While attempting to reach the 16,000-euro safety level, Schmickl faced an 8,000-euro question regarding which cult band announced they would disband in 2027 after 36 years. Relying on an audience joker, she selected ‘Die Toten Hosen’ based on a confident suggestion from a spectator. However, the correct answer was ‘Die Prinzen’.

Host Günther Jauch noted that ‘Die Toten Hosen’ have existed since 1982, making them active for 44 years rather than 36. Because Schmickl had not yet reached the required safety threshold, the incorrect answer resulted in her leaving the show with only 500 euros.
